You Need Financial Accountability

Accountability

In 2018, I started working out 3 days per week with Kelly, a personal trainer.  He’s 53 and lives for physical fitness, and his whole lifestyle involves active living.

Working with Kelly for just three months now has helped me develop new habits and routines related to my personal health goals. For the first time in a long time, I’m optimistic and confident that I’ll be achieving my fitness goals in 2019.

Initially, my wife was irritated. It’s expensive to work one on one with someone.

Why in the world would I pay thousands of dollars per year to someone to show me things I can easily do on my own? That’s super expensive.

Or is it?

On the surface, it’s crazy to pay someone a lot of money to meet you at the gym 3 times per week and lift weights. It’s certainly nothing I couldn’t do on my own.

But after 40 years of not doing it on my own, I had to face reality.

THE REALITY:

There is a huge gap between knowing and doing.

Can you relate?

I know my way around the gym pretty well. I spent a lot of time there as a teen boy who was into sports and girls.

However, I wasn’t doing anything meaningful or sustainable on my own throughout my adult life, and I was feeling and seeing the results of it as I aged.

So, I decided it was time to try something different. Get someone else to help me do what needed to be done.

Working with a professional provides me with two important things:

  • I don’t have to over think it anymore. I just show up and do what he tells me to do.
  • I can’t be lazy and blow it off. I am accountable to someone and must show up.

SHOW UP, DO THE WORK

Having someone else waiting for me at 7 am is what it took to get me going. When I am sitting in my comfortable chair at 6 am, having coffee, and the last thing I want to do is get up and go to the gym.

But Kelly is waiting for me. I have to go. I have to just show up and do the work.

And after the workout, it’s great and I feel energized.

My problem was not knowledge. My problem was over thinking things. My problem was accountability. I needed a plan and I needed accountability.

FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY

If we’re being honest, most of us need the exact same thing when it comes to our finances.

We know what to do. We just don’t do it.

How do I know this?

Because I’ve seen it in the lives of hundreds of families over the past thirty plus years. Smart, successful people, not doing what they know they should in the area of personal finances.

Just like working with a personal trainer helps on the fitness goals, we need a personal financial advisor who will give us a custom plan and hold us accountable for showing up and doing the work.

NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION

As you start the New Year in 2019, do you have someone like this in your life?

Our clients receive a custom-tailored game plan showing them exactly what they need to work on to get their financial house in order.

We give them accountability by following up on things they agree to do until they actually get done.

Finally, we make sure and keep things on track and update the plan every year, so they don’t develop bad habits again.

If you are our client, you know what I’m saying here works.

If you are not our client, do you have someone in your life helping you with this? If not, you should call us. We can help you determine the most appropriate steps to take to become financially fit. We’ll help simplify the routine for you so in 2019 you Get Stuff Done #GSD.
