We all know someone who knows someone famous, or had a moment where we got to meet a famous person, right?  Any time I am asked where I am from, due to my unique accent at times, I must declare Millington, TN as my childhood hometown.

Most people don’t instantly know where Millington, TN is, but when I mention it’s a suburb 20 miles Northeast of Memphis it seems vaguely familiar to them.  A lot of famous people come from the Memphis area, Morgan Freeman, Kathy Bates and Ginnifer Goodwin, just to name a few.                                                                                                            Annah Tucker, First Grade ↓↓

I only lived in Millington until I was 12, but I always like to toss into the conversation that I went to elementary school with Justin Timberlake.  For those of you who don’t know Justin, here is a link to his website for reference: https://www.justintimberlake.com/.

Not to give anyone’s ages away, but Justin is 2 years older than me, so we were not in the same classes.

However, I do remember hearing the gossip in the halls about Justin joining the Mickey Mouse Club at the time.  I even had a girlfriend that lived in his parent’s neighborhood, so we would always look for him when we were driving by.                                                                                                                                                                                     Justin Timberlake, Sixth Grade ↓↓

I will never forget when he returned to the small gymnasium at E.E. Jeter for his 8th grade graduation.  They turned the lights in the gym down and put a single spotlight on this 14-year-old kid just beginning his glorious career.

He came and sat on a grand piano and sang acapella Seal’s song “Kiss from a Rose.”  It was a moment I will forever remember vividly, a time before cell phones and handy recording devices.  I could tell you exactly where I was sitting in that gym if I were to walk in there today.

Great memories were made during my time in Millington! We all have our “famous person” story, and this is mine. Who do you know?
